This World Cup has been a very exciting one. The final outcome is, already at this point in the quarter-finals, guaranteed to be historic. Two of the four teams that could possibly win the World Cup have never done so: Spain and the Netherlands. The two other contenders are remarkably young teams, Germany (avg age, 24.9) and Uruguay (avg age, 27). In the last World Cup, giant Zinidine Zidane gracefully began the exit of a generation of soccer greats. France is without Henry, England without Beckham, Brazil without Ronaldinho, and Germany without Ballack. An exciting new chapter for international soccer.
